The Sherman Playhouse in Connecticut opened in 1923 with its first play, Billeted. Recently the Sherman Playhouse has put on plays such as Aladdin, Cinderella, Footloose, West Side Story and A Chorus Line. Their variety of shows will please everyone in your family.
The Sherman Players puts on four shows per year, featuring actors of all ages. Shows are put on during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for around 5 weeks, and you can choose to see a night showing or matinee. On the Thursday before Friday opening night, a preview showing is available for half price.
For the first time in 2013, The Sherman Playhouse joined with Neil Silberblatt, local poetry performer. Spread throughout the year will be three poetry performances. The playhouse will also schedule three play readings during the year entitled “Sunday Script Series.” The Sherman Playhouse has also joined together Amore Ristorante and Pizza to present a dinner and show. Make sure to book a reservation for this unique opportunity before it fills up.
Auditions for plays are open to all ages male and female, where actors will read from scripts either in groups or solo. If you don’t want to get up on stage you can volunteer at the playhouse. They are always looking for help with concessions, props, set construction, stage management, lighting, and fundraising. If you volunteer with the box office, you can get a free ticket as a thank you!
