Arthur Harris Linear Park is a wonderful park in Brookfield, Connecticut, popular for its lovely hiking trails. Covering 139 acres of wooded land, the park was named after the former Conservation Commission chairman that came up with the idea of building it, in 1967. However, it wasn’t until 1984 that the plans for constructing the park were ready.
Located at 100 Pocono Road, the park’s entrance is to the left of the , beyond the soccer field. A hike in the park can prove to be a great idea, as the place is very peaceful and relaxing. Whether you choose to go for a walk, for a hike, or you just want to watch the Still River run through the park, listen to the birds sing, and just admire the beauty of nature, this is a great place to do so. Arthur Harris Linear Park is now part of a bigger project called the Still River Greenway that starts in Danbury and continues through Brookfield. This is actually a multipurpose channel that focuses on protecting the environment, on restoring the river and at the same time offers proper recreational and even educational opportunities.
Arthur Harris Linear Park offers enthusiasts two different hiking trails that can be easily explored. Although there are plans to expand the park, there are only two loops in the park, Loop A that stretches for 2.5 miles, and Loop B of only one mile. However, for Brookfield residents that like to go hiking whenever they have the time, this park is perfect as it is. In addition to this, there is a gazebo, where you can rest for a moment during your walk through the park. The woods at Arthur Harris Linear Park are truly beautiful and are home to many small animals and lovely birds, not to mention all the flowers and plants that you can come across during a hike. Arthur Harris Linear Park is one of Brookfield’s best places for hiking offering great views and fun in any season.
