The Prospector Theater from Ridgefield, CT will show a variety of movies ranging from new releases, documentaries or other alternate content.
The Prospector Theater, currently under construction, is expected to open in Ridgefield in the summer of 2014. This brand new movie theater is being built in the same location as the original Ridgefield Playhouse which served the community as its first movie viewing location since the 1940s. The original Ridgefield Playhouse has been out of commission since the mid-1970s and was transformed into a bank for 25 years until the town of Ridgefield repurchased it in 2000 for expansion on the library.
Although it is replacing a beloved town landmark, this new theater promises to surpass any movie going experience. Prospector offers much more than just any ordinary theater. On the three state of the art movie screens and sound systems, the Prospector will show a variety of movies ranging from new releases, classics, documentaries, independent films, and other alternate content.
The Prospector plans on having fun theme nights where all the movies shown reflect the theme. This theater makes “dinner and a movie” a one stop location with a café, bar, and restaurant all a part of the same complex. The Prospector is very accommodating to kids and will have an arcade room and a party room available for rent.
What really distinguishes the Prospector from your average movie theaters, however, is the community center functionalities. The Prospector has a meeting room for town folk to gather and organize. But most impressively, Valerie Jansen, founder of the Prospector, has dedicated space for an educational and vocational training center for adults with developmental disabilities. The Prospector promises to be a wonderful location for any Ridgefield resident.
Located in the historic center of Ridgefield, the Prospector Theatre will be a place of both education and entertainment. A great place to go catch up on films, and a wonderful destination to bring the whole family.
This friendly community offers a variety of restaurants, well known museums, and a rich history.
