Statistics for Brokerages

It was just announced in Real Trends (a group that does lots of research in the real estate markets' statistics) that over 44 % of the real estate brokerage offices in the nation were now running a deficit from year to year. Some were in debt so much that it will take them several years of fantastic profits to regain the "black."

I find this an interesting statistic, and a little scary, since I just opened my own brokerage, Dagny's Real Estate LLC, this year. The dynamite web site is getting better and better every day, as I load new content in each day. I blog each day, which brings business to me, I market my listings weekly, I am very pro active in the community, have a local column and market my real estate brokerage, Dagny's Real Estate LLC, in every way I can find.

I have not crunched the numbers properly to see how my brokerage here in Wilton CT has done this year, but will be happy to be anywhere near even. The first year of any new business has a lot of start up costs, which will perhaps not be there the next year.

My production is on target to be double of any year previous, but my expenses will be higher. We'll see how the year ends, won't we? My guess is that I will be well in the black!
