Would you like to know the easiest way to check your paint type

(latex or oil based)?

You need a rag with a different color from the surface being tested (ie: if a white surface, use a darker color rag) and some denatured alcohol (hardware store). Gently rub the rag soaked with a little denatured alcohol on the paint - if paint color comes off, it's water based (latex) - otherwise, it is probably oil based paint.

Reason

- water based (latex) paint is alcohol based... it is water washable while wet only.
